The Master’s in International Strategic Management was launched in 2016, and is based on a long tradition of education and research in strategic management. This is Lund University's second programme ranked by Financial Times, as the Master’s in Finance is ranked 38th globally.
"Lund University School of Economics and Management has many senior researchers in strategy and management, as well as in related subject areas such as innovation and entrepreneurship. Our researchers are heard and seen in the international arena, and these perspectives are embedded into the education", says Kristina Eneroth, Vice Dean at the School of Economics and Management at Lund University.
Ulf Ramberg, Associate Professor of Business Administration, is the programme director for the popular master’s programme. In the autumn of 2020, just over a thousand people applied for the fifty slots.
"We have students from all corners of the globe who come Lund to learn about strategy and what it means to lead strategically in a global business environment. This year we have seventeen different nationalities in the classroom. These are ambitious students with high grades and strong CVs. It could be very competitive, but that is not my impression. It is wonderful to see how the students share their experiences, how they listen to each other and show care and respect", says Ulf Ramberg.
He looks forward to being able to tell the students about the successful ranking result.
"It is an amazing opportunity for our students, because this proves that they get good international jobs after their education. Since the beginning, we aimed for creating a great programme that highlights the challenges of international business development. It is very gratifying that the students want to continue to keep in touch with us after their studies. We would not have been ranked without their participation", says Ulf Ramberg.
The Financial Times ranking is based on what alumni – former students – say about their education three years after graduation. In other words, this is the first time that the School of Economics and Management has had the opportunity to rank the Master’s in International Strategic Management, as the programme only launched in 2016.
"It is incredible what talented teachers and students can achieve together. I see it as yet another recognition of what Lund University can deliver in terms of internationally acclaimed education at the master's level", Vice Dean Kristina Eneroth concludes.
